No, this post is not about a Whitney Houston album that know one has ever heard about. Whitney is a band rooted in Canada, and consists of one guitarist and a drummer/vocalist. Max Kakacek and Julien Ehrlich create a sound that is light and summery, but also is rooted in more complex genres. Ehrlich sings in a high, breathy voice, but is accompanied by guitars, drums, horns and strong bass lines. "Light Upon the Lake" is the debut album of Whitney, and was released from the label Secretly Canadian on June 3rd of 2016. I personally love to listen to this album all year, though the early fall is best. I picture drinking a nice cup of coffee, sitting with a friend in front of a big window while the rain falls. "Light Upon the Lake"is the perfect 'sweater weather' album. My personal favorites are "On My Own," "Follow," "Dave's Song," and "No Woman."
